Obituary

William F. (Bill or Scotty) Scott, joined his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, after a long battle with neuromuscular illness. He was born in Cincinnati, Iowa on August 5, 1932. At a very young age, he left Iowa and began a 24 year service to his country serving in the U.S. Army. During this time, Bill served on 4 different continents and fought commendably in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. At age 21, he met his beloved wife, Lu Hamilton of Vendor, Arkansas in Kansas City, Missouri. Following a one-month courtship, they married and embarked on a 54-year love affair. Their union brought forth 4 children: William Jr, James, Jan, and Rebecca (Becky).

William Jr. and James both preceded their father in death.

After retiring from the Army, Bill and Lu settled with their family in Northwest Arkansas. After many years of military-related travel, the Ozark Hills became their home. As a civilian, Bill was involved in numerous business ventures in the city of Harrison, Arkansas. He founded and operated Scotty's Consignment (later Bob's Consignment), Scotty's Surplus, and Scotty's Auction. Ultimately, he and Lu truly "retired" and moved to the rim of a beautiful mountaintop in Newton County. Bill was a long-time HAM radio operator (W5SKJ) and loved communicating with others all around the world. During recent years, he and Lu enjoyed woodworking, square dancing, and a host of other hobbies.

Bill is survived by his wife, Lu Scott of Jasper; a sister, Dorothy Sharrett of Davenport, IA; daughters and their spouses, Jan and Rick Davidson of Harrison, Rebecca and Charles Flesch of Wylie, TX; grandchildren, Bryan Scott, Jeremy Scott, Ashli Davidson, Nicholaus Davidson, Shawn Daniell, Austin Flesch, Kyle Flesch, Travis Flesch; one great-grandchild, Jeremy Scott, Jr. and many other friends and extended family whose lives he touched.

Visitation was at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper, AR on Thursday, February 22. Funeral Service was at Newton County Baptist Church in Piercetown with Rev. Rodney Stomlund officiating. Burial was in Judea Mountain Point Cemetery at the top of the mountain he loved.

Pallbearers were Rick Davidson, Charles Flesch, Bill Phillips, Larry Sargent, James Thomason, and Bob Caughron.
Honorary Pallbearers were Dr. Brownfield and First floor nursing staff of NARMC.
