William Hugh "Bill" Morphis, age 66 of Parthenon, Arkansas passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 at Springfield, Missouri.
He was born on March 7, 1951 in Pecos, Texas to Jack Huel and Lillie Lee (Brevard) Morphis. He had been baptized in Tyler, Texas, was an honorary member of the Ridge Riders and a mentor to many young'uns as well as an inspiration to his entire family. He loved harder and was loved harder than any man we know. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps. In 1986 he moved his family to Newton County, Arkansas and there lived out the rest of his life.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Jean Lucas Morphis and one sister Jacqueline Denise Morphis Moore.
Survivors are his wife Vickie Burton-Morphis of Berryville, Arkansas; daughters Kimberly Liggett and husband Jerry of Deer, Arkansas, Carrie Collins and husband Stacey of Piercetown, Arkansas, Betsy Lundgren of Nixa, Missouri, Lana Ginn and husband Fred of Hindsville, Arkansas and Renee Guidry and husband Josh of Huntsville, Arkansas; step-son Rodney Ozley and wife Kathryn of Thomaston, Georgia; three sisters Mary Moody of The Woodlands, Texas, Judy Morphis of Brownsboro, Texas and Peggy Hood of Montgomery, Texas; grandchildren William "Billy" Collins and wife Brooklyn, Clayton Collins, Madison Youngblood and husband Matthew, Tyler Morphis and wife Kennedy, Erin Lundgren, Emma Lundgren, Lily Ginn, Violet Ginn, Hannah Wigger, Ava Wigger, Devyn Neely, Briceon Ozley, Abigail Ozley and Kyle Ozley; great-grandchildren Carly Jean Collins, Phoenix Youngblood and Colton Collins due in September; his service dog and best friend Buddy Morphis; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Jasper First Baptist Church with Bobby Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Hill Cemetery at Parthenon under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, July 7, 2017 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.
Pallbearers will be William "Billy" Collins, Tyler Morphis, Robbie Kirkpatrick, Michael Kirkpatrick, William Kirkpatrick, Fred Ginn, Josh Guidry and Dr. Mark Corbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Liggett, Stacey Collins, Clayton Collins, Matthew Youngblood, Bryan Hood, Cody Traywick, Buck Dahlstrom and all of Bill's many friends.
