Obituary

William Frank Cheatham II, age 77 of Mt. Judea, Arkansas passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010 at St. John's Health System in Springfield, Missouri.

The son of William Frank and Mary Hazel (Greenhaw) Cheatham was born July 25, 1933 in Mt. Judea, Arkansas.

He was a veteran having served in the United States Army and a farmer. He was a member of the Mt. Judea Church of Christ where he had served as secretary. He was a big fan of his grandchildren's basketball games and chief cook for Saturday morning breakfasts. William was a lifetime resident of Newton County spending 8 years of his childhood in Jasper, while his father was sheriff. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a kind and gentle Christian who loved people and enjoyed life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Armon Cheatham; one sister, Lois Cheatham; a son-in-law, Doug Bryant and a brother-in-law, J.B. Dickey.

Survivors are his wife, Sue Carol (Hefley) Cheatham of Mt. Judea; his children, Billy Frank Cheatham of Harrison; Barbara Hefley and husband, Kenneth; Tena Bryant and Sarah Flud and husband, Robby all of Mt. Judea; one sister. Fayma Cheatham Dickey of Valley Springs; seven grandchildren, Taylor and Bailey Hefley; Logan and Payton Bryant; Kara, Brooklyn and Lance Flud; nephews and nieces, James Dickey of Houston, TX; Randall Dickey of Auburn, AL; Berry Joe, Tammy and Mary Cheatham all of Wichita, KS.

Funeral service was Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Mt. Judea Church of Christ with Jon Hendrix, Junior Dodson and Jim Gaskill officiating. Burial followed in Sexton Cemetery at Mt. Judea under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper. Visitation was Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Scottie Smith, Charles Campbell, Shelvon Gregory, Richard Hudson, Steven Martin and G.W. Campbell. Honorary pallbearers were Billy Dale Brasel, James Dickey, Randall Dickey, James Carl Campbell, Thomas Bonner, Ed Campbell, Ronnie Campbell, Burr McCutcheon, Jr., Charles Flood, Saturday morning breakfast buddies and the Jasper Senior Boys Basketball Team.
