William "Bill" Brown passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014 in Harrison.
He was born on April 4, 1973 to William Brown and Janette (Lane) Brown of Harrison. He graduated from Harrison High School in 1991 and attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Bill was an avid reader who enjoyed various genres of music and literature. He was a history and geography whiz and was a member of his high school class quiz bowl team and the gifted and talented program. He enjoyed playing poker with his friends and described his avocational skill as a break-even poker player. Bill loved animals and rescued many cats and dogs throughout his lifetime. He will be remembered fondly as a warm-hearted person who spoke only kind words of others and was loved by all who knew him.
Bill was preceded in death by his grandparents, Duster and Faye Lane and Leslie and Frances Brown; uncles, Bill Cain, Rodney Evans, and Wayne Cooper; and his cousin, Dwayne Smith.
He is survived by his parents, both of Harrison, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, a remarkable group of loyal friends, and his "blessed" cat, Sassafras.
There was no visitation.
Funeral service was Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison with Chaplain Marge Doyle officiating. Interment followed in Maplewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brad Brown, Jason Dickey, G.B. Hicks, Phillip Rackley, Jamie Thomason, and Simon Young.
Honorary pallbearers included the Hospice of the Hills nursing staff and the North Arkansas Regional Medical Center first floor nursing staff.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Hills (P.O. Box 1927, Harrison, AR 72602), the Ozark Humane Society (P.O. Box 542, Harrison, AR 72601), or the American Cancer Society.
