Obituary

Wesley Doyce Manes, age 67 of St. Joe, passed from this life on Sunday, November 10, 2024 peacefully at his home.  He was born in Marshall, Arkansas on January 14, 1957 to Doyce Ray Manes and Alice Elizabeth (Cook) Manes.

Wesley was a proud U.S. Army veteran. He served in the 43rd artillery detachment unit as a specialist while stationed in Germany.  For over 40 years, he ruled the road as a truck driver, earning the respect of his fellow drivers, who affectionately called him "Maynard" over the CB. As the rock of his family, Wesley was more than just a husband, father, brother, and grandfather—he was a mentor and the steady hand that kept things together, always ready to step in as the peacemaker when needed. He had the rare gift of making everyone feel like a friend, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for the people he loved.  After hanging up his keys, Wesley found peace on his farm, where he took pride in tending to his cattle and working the land. But nothing meant more to him than time spent with his family and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brandon Manes; and two brothers, Dwayne and Kelly Manes.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Jannie Manes, of the home; one daughter and her husband, Ashley and Andrew Scott, of St. Joe; one son, Jaron Manes, of St. Joe; six grandchildren, Kaytlin, Gavin and his wife, Cierra, Javen, Kason, Lawlli and Koltin; two great grandchildren, Grace and Ruby; two brothers and their wives, Kevin and Michelle Manes, of St. Joe, and Jackie and Lisa Manes, of Marshall; one sister-in-law, Colleen Harrison; two brothers-in-law, Doug (Kathie) Campbell and Randy (Brenda) Campbell; and a host of other family and friends.
