Weldon Lavoy Fowler, age 80 of Mt. Sherman, Arkansas passed away Friday, February 1, 2013 at Springfield, Missouri.
The son of Walter and Ava (Edgmon) Fowler was born December 27, 1932 at Ryker (Cave Mountain), Arkansas.
He was of the Baptist faith, a timber worker, a farmer and loved gardening. He also loved witnessing for the Lord to everyone he met, even total strangers. He said this was his work in the final years the Lord had granted him.
He was a loving Daddy and Papa and a lifetime resident of Newton County.
Weldon was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Dorothy LaFaye Fowler on August 31, 2009 and an infant grandson.
Survivors are his two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Shannon Willis of Jasper and Karen and Jack Lowe of Rockaway Beach, Missouri; three brothers, Bobby Fowler of the Phillippines,
Gary Fowler of Jasper and Larry Fowler of Bellefonte; three sisters, Shirley Farmer of Wichita, Kansas, Cleetha Samuels of Jasper and Connie James of Jasper; three grandchildren, Shana Raver and husband, Bryan, Kaleb Moon and wife, Leslie and Jeremy Lowe; four great-grandchildren, Bryce and Brody Raver and Edden and Lauryn Moon; and many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Funeral services were Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with Bro. Donnie Villines and Bro. Bobby Young officiating. Burial followed in Union Hill Cemetery.
Visitation was Monday, February 4, 2013 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Ford Carlton, Brock Matlock, Vernon Fowler, Joe Paul James, Harold King, Ray Carlton and L.C. Matlock. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Kevin Jackson and Crossroads Medical Clinic; Sam Alexander Pharmacy and staff; and Apple Ridge Health and Rehab Nursing staff.
