Hunter
February 11, 1941 – October 28, 2021
Wendell Wayne Hunter of Harrison, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Cox Hospital in Branson, Missouri at the age of 80.
The son of Don and Wilma (Carpenter) Hunter was born on February 11, 1941 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. He was a 46-year member of the Stoney Point Baptist Church in Kansas City and since moving to Harrison, he has been a member of Ozark Baptist Church.
Wayne enlisted in the US Army on April 8, 1965 and married the love of his life, Barbara Cunningham, on October 22, 1965. He proudly served his country in the Army and Army National Guard, and he was proud of his 4 sons and 6 grandkids that also made the choice to serve their country.
When Wayne married Barbara, she was a single mom to 5 kids, age 5 years to 6 months. He embraced his role as their father and together they became a family. They added one more son after they married, to complete their family.
He was a hard worker, and spent nearly 30 years working for Teamsters as a City Truck Driver. When he retired at age 58, he and Barbara enjoyed traveling across the US on their Harley Davidson. Wayne will be remembered as a patient, loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He was also incredibly giving, fair and humble.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Randy and Michael.
