Wanda Lee Wheeler, 90 of Western Grove, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Hillcrest Nursing Home.

She was born at Mossville, Arkansas on November 4, 1930, one of five children to the late Virgil and Anna (Reynolds) Edgmon. She was like a mother to her younger brothers, helping raise them.

Wanda was a lifelong resident of Newton County and married the love of her life, Perry Wheeler, in 1952. She was a hard worker, helping Perry milking goats, cows and raising beef cattle.  Wanda loved quilting and sewing and enjoyed gardening, especially flowers.  She loved to cook for her family, and even cooked up a prize-winning chocolate pie while at the nursing home.

She was caring and gentle, but firm, if you asked her opinion on something, you knew how she felt. She was the best Mom and Grandma and gave the best Grandma hugs.  She loved her family tremendously and they loved and adored her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Perry Wheeler and two brothers, Johnny and Jerry Edgmon.

Wanda is survived by her son, Larry Wheeler of Bergman and daughter, Teresa Williams of Western Grove; her siblings, Imogene Williams of Farmington, Shirley Edgmon and Don Edgmon both of Mossville; her grandchildren, Joshua (Monica) Williams of Little Rock, and their children, Dallas, Caleb and Makayla; Jamie (Brittany) Wheeler of Bergman, and their children, William Henry, Ellieanna and Johnny; and Jessica (Jacob) Ellis of Cabot and their children, Jaylee and Juliana; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended relatives.

Graveside service will be at 10 AM, Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Mossville Cemetery with Bobby Young officiating.  There will be no visitation.

Pallbearers are Joshua Williams, Jamie Wheeler, Jacob Ellis, , David Gilbert, Brandon Williams and Tracy Brewer.

Honorary pallbearers are Hillcrest Nursing Home Caregivers.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone at Hillcrest Nursing Home for the loving care they provided for Wanda.
