Walter Lavern Cox, age 67 of Low Gap, AR passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, AR.
The son of Charles and Ethel Louise (McComes) Cox, was born May 16, 1940 in Osceola, IA. He married his wife, Reba Jean (Clark) Cox on December 19, 1959 in Kansas City, MO. They have lived in this area since June of 1976, moving from Kansas City. He was a avid Kansas City Chief fan and enjoyed knife collecting and woodworking.
His parents preceded him in death, along with a sister, Anita Skaggs.
Survivors are his wife, Reba Cox, of the home; Jeff Cox, of Belton, MO and Mike Cox and his wife, Shawna, of Everton; daughter, Melissa Henderson and her husband, Ricky, of Parthenon; brother, Charles Cox, of Deming, NM; sisters, Reta Fest, of Liberty, MO and Veta Mae Elliott, of Bartlett, TX; and grandchildren, Justin Farmer, Laura Farmer, Cody Henderson, Nick Cox, and Delaney Cox.
Visitation was Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper. Service was Monday, February 25, 2008 at Low Gap Church with Donnie Villines officiating. Burial followed in Low Gap Cemetery. Pallbearers were Justin Farmer, Nick Cox, Danny Ray Clark, Danny Clark, Larry Clark, and David Clark. Honorary pallbearers were Herman Villines, Dr. Jimmy Justice and the staff of Newton County Family Practice.
