Virl E. Carney, age 88 of Deer, AR, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at the Newton County Nursing Home in Jasper.

The son of John and Mellie (Watson) Carney was born October 22, 1932 in Shiloh, AR.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and mother of his children, Eudola Carney; his grandson, Matthew Taylor; and 3 sisters, Floy Willis, Ruth Smith and Juanita Harderson.

Virl was a member of the Nail Christian Union Church. He loved to sing and listen to music.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved his family very much.

He worked in the timber industry most of his life and retired from the Newton County Road Dept.

Virl is survived by his wife Betty (Breedlove) Carney of Deer; his daughters, Sandra "Ronnie" Taylor of Russellville, AR, Kathy "Jim" Standridge of Hector, AR, Verla "Carey" Clark of Clarksville, AR, Brenda "David" Schaefer of Huntsville, AR, Carolyn "Boyce" Burdine of Harrison, AR, Patty "Ron" Spradlin of Rogers, AR, Jeannie "Bobby" Huffmaster of Joplin, MO, Julie "Rink" Storey of Rogers, AR, and Susan "Robbie" Moore of Parthenon, AR.; 2 sons, Bobby "Sue" Hudson of Parthenon, AR, and Chris "Judy" Hudson of Lowell, AR.

He is also survived by his sister, Nola Mae Williams of Nail, AR; 4 brothers, Doyle Carney of Nail,AR, Mirl Carney of Kansas City, KS, Delbert Carney of Atkins, AR, and Limon Carney of Farmington, AR; 19 grandsons; 12 granddaughters; 46 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 Friday, June 18, 2021 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the funeral home with Rev. Bobby Young and Rev. Loren Collins officiating.  Burial will follow in Nail Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Moore, James Carney, Terry Carney, Marty Harderson, Ken Harderson, and Bennie Smith.

Honorary pallbearers are Grandsons.
