Verna B. Hudson, age 95 of Peel, AR passed away Sunday, February 3, 2008 at her home in Peel.
The daughter of Bruce and Anna Maria (Martens) Beaman, was born October 23, 1912 in Oklahoma City, OK.
Verna received her Registered Nurse degree from Halstead Kansas Nursing School and her post graduate degree in nursing at Baylor University in Dallas, TX.
She had moved to Peel from Siloam Springs, AR. While in Siloam Springs she was the first Administrator for Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital and was instrumental in organizing and staffing the hospital. She also served as Head Nurse and Scrub Nurse for surgeries. She retired in 1977. After moving to Peel she was active in the Auxiliary for Peel Fire Department, was active in the Home Extension Club in Marion County, and was an avid Bridge player.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Her parents preceded her in death, along with her husband, Loyace "Doc" Hudson, in 1981, and her brother, Carl Russell Beaman.
Survivors are her sons, William B. Hudson and Richard H. Hudson and his wife, Lilyan, all of Peel; brother, Donald Thomas Beaman, of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Richard Jason Hudson and Charles Jarret Hudson,
both of Fullerton, CA, Richard Bryan Hudson and his wife, Amy, of Gentry, AR, and Anna Maria Wleklinski and her husband, Don, of Siloam Springs; and seven great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made in Verna's memory to Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, 205 E. Jefferson, Siloam Springs, AR 72761 or to the Lead Hill Church of Christ, Lead Hill, AR.
Cremation and arrangements are being handled by Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.
