Velva Gean Freeman, age 89 of Mt. Judea, Arkansas passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Newton County Nursing Home in Jasper.
The daughter of Hinds and Nancy (Claxton) Odle was born October 31, 1923 in Westville, Oklahoma.
She was a homemaker and had lived most of her life in Newton County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Verlin A. Freeman; infant baby girl and her parents.
Survivors are five sons, Carl Freeman of Jasper, Arkansas, Earl Freeman of Mt. Judea, Arkansas, Dale Freeman of Jasper, Arkansas, Jake Freeman of Mt. Judea, Arkansas and Allen Freeman of Piercetown, Arkansas; three daughters, Lois Hunt of Lead Hill, Arkansas, Brenda Collins of Jasper, Arkansas and Patsy Stapleton of Omaha, Arkansas; one brother, Jim Odle of Warrensburg, Missouri; two sisters, Nadine French of Buffalo, Missouri and Paddy Tillisch of Grove, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with Bro. Wesley Ricketts officiating. Burial followed in Sexton Cemetery at Mt. Judea.
Visitation was Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Corey Freeman, Zachrey Freeman, Alex Freeman, Joshua Freeman, EJ Freeman and Stacey Collins. Honorary pallbearer will be Morgan Freeman.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
