Obituary

Tracy Michelle Smith was born September 10, 1972 to J.D. and Judy Smith in Brunswick, GA. She passed to her eternal rest, January 16, 2008, at her home.

She attended Boone County Special Services School and was a graduate of Bentonville Public High Schools. She was a member of, and loved attending the Snow Community "Christ the Answer" church. Tracy is survived by her parents, Judy and J.D. Smith of the home. By her maternal grandparents, James and Vergie Raby, and her paternal grandmother, Lovedia Smith, Amanda, Trey and her special Aunt Jannie, and a host of other family members, her church family at Snow, and her dear friends of Legacy Hospice of North Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her grandpa, James L. "Jim" Smith.

Before becoming bedridden, Tracy loved to camp with family and friends. She continued to love to listen to Bluegrass music, especially Gospel songs. Her most enjoyable activities were anything to do with playing in water. While she could not speak during her time on the earth, Tracy had a great ear for music and never failed to notice when someone singing or playing didn't quite hit the right note, and she was always quick to point that out with a giggle. Tracy had an incredible toughness about her, but also had a wonderful sweetness that, even in her most painful moments, would always bring a smile and be an inspiration to those around her. She deeply touched the lives of all who knew her.

Though she couldn't speak, Tracy had a special way of communicating with those who knew her. And I believe, in Tracy's own special way, she would like me to share her thoughts with you: "For years you have prayed for my recovery, for my healing. Though not in the time, or in the way that you would have wanted, but rather in God's own way and at the time God felt was right, your prayers have been answered. Today I have received that long awaited healing and I bear no more pain. Today, I go to reach into my grandpa's hand and tell him for the very first time how much I loved him and how much I appreciated all he did for me when he lived on earth. Today, I got to experience the wonders and beauty of Heaven, and to look into the loving eyes of Jesus. And today, I got o stand in the glorious presence of God. for those I leave behind, grieve for a time because you miss me, but for me, rejoice, for today, I am made whole and I have moved into my new home of eternal happiness, where suffering no longer exists. For you, when time allows your woods to heal, be happy and live your lives in such a way that when your times comes, you can come to hear me sing in God's choir."

Funeral services were Friday, January 18, 2008 at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.
There was open visitation Thursday, January 17, 2008, at the funeral home. Interment followed at Sanders Cemetery near Batavia.

Pallbearers were, Avery Roberts, Phillip Paul, Wes Paul, Trey Roberts, Tim Campbell, Gary Barnett, Marty Cross, and Jimmy Bolin.

Tracy and her parents want to extend a very special and heartfelt "Thank you" to the Drs. Chu and the entire staff at Legacy Hospice for their caring support and for making her final days comfortable and her passing as pain free as possible.
