IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tonya Reanea
Jones
May 17, 1968 – October 22, 2021
Tonya Reanea Jones passed from her earthly life on October 22, 2021 at the age of 53. She was born on May 17, 1968 to Darrell and Jo Ann Jones. Her birth was a beautiful gift to her mom and dad after 10 years of trying to conceive.
Tonya was the oldest of 4 kids with only 5 years separating the oldest and the youngest. Growing up, Tonya loved playing house, school, building forts and torturing her only brother, Marcus.
After graduating Deer High School in 1986, she went on to graduate Vo-Tech School with her LPN degree. She would go on to work at NARMC Emergency Room and then for Dr. Chambers. After Dr. Sue left, Tonya worked for Dr. Reece for several years. In 2008, Tonya began working for Dr. Stacy Armstrong, and was presently working with her at Crossroads Medical Clinic.
Tonya was blessed with the most precious heart, especially when it came to her clinic patients. When work was over, Tonya would go home and call several patients to check on them or a patients' family, if they had lost a loved one, just to make sure they were ok. Tonya loved people and people loved her. She was well known for providing samples of medicine or baby formula to help them out financially. If she knew you were sick, she would either call or stop by to check on you.
Tonya loved mushroom hunting, deer hunting with Greg and arrowhead hunting. She also loved kayaking with Greg.
Tonya was also known as Aunt Tootie to her nieces and nephews and she adored each one of them. She was always the life of the party, whether it was getting pushed into the pool or getting cake smashed in her face. She was the ultimate jokester and loved to make people laugh. Her laugh was so contagious because it wasn't just a laugh, it was a full-blown belly laugh, one that you could only hear air coming out of her mouth.
Tonya also had a tender heart. She was the first to cry and she felt everyone's sorrow. Her sweet disposition allowed her to empathize with the best of them.
Tonya loved talking to her family. She was faithful to call her parents every night to check on them and tell them goodnight and that she loved them.
She also loved Greg, who has been by her side as the love of her life for 20 years. They were blessed with many years of fun-loving times. She loved his family as her own too. Tonya and Greg were blessed with a grandson, Troy. Tonya loved being his Grammy and she loved him so very much. She was also known as Momma to her dogs, past and present. She loved each and every one of them, with Fiona and Belle being her latest loves. Tonya had a tremendous love for animals, often taking in strays and trying to find them new homes.
Tonya was filled with so much love for family and friends, and everyone who knew her loved her. Her absence will be felt deeply by all of those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Fay and Cozette Jones, her maternal grandparents, Russell Dobbs and Albert and Myrtle Dobbs; uncles, Max Jones, Keith "Red" Jones, Russell Dobbs, George Dobbs, Thomas Dobbs; aunts, Darlene Jones Rea, Willa Mae Dobbs Matthews and her dogs, Barney, Taco, Somebeach and Happy Jack.
Tonya is survived by her parents, Coach Darrell Jones and Jo Ann Jones of Lead Hill; her siblings, Marcus and Angela Jones of Harrison, Shannon and David Tennison of Valley Springs and Kimberly Jones of Valley Springs; her nieces and nephews, Addie and Gavin Jones, Keeton (Lexie) Tennison and their son, Tyton, Payton and Bryton Tennison and Hunter Weaver; the love of her life, Greg Edwards, of Alpena and his son, Jerrett Edwards, whom Tonya loved like her own son, and her grandson, Troy; her mother-in-love, Cheryl Harris; and Greg's siblings, that she loved as her own family, Cheri Edwards (Todd Gassaway), Larry and Cathy Harris and Angela Harris (Greg Criner).
Tonya is also survived by many aunts and uncles, including her Snowball family (Jones) and her California family (Dobbs), a host of cousins, extended relatives, her special friends, Lillian Setzer, Lori Ruhwedel and Sherri Poe Ingram and many other close friends and her work family.
Funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Harrison with Pastor Rob Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Auman Cemetery in Alpena.
