IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Timothy
Taylor
August 23, 1950 – October 2, 2017
It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of Timothy Allan Taylor who
passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017 in Harrison, Arkansas at the age of 67.
Tim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will
be missed dearly by all who had the honor of knowing him.
Tim was a retired service technician and avid sportsman but will be remembered
by many for his unwavering sense of humor despite any circumstance life
presented. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Geraldine
Taylor; his wife, Pamela Taylor; his brother, Thomas Taylor; and his
brother-in-law, John Willis. He is survived by his children, Jeffrey Taylor and
Samantha Taylor, and their mother, Lynda Harrington, as well as his son-in-law,
Benjamin Swanson, and three grandchildren, Rusty Taylor, Chance Taylor and
Ashlynn Swanson, all of Central Florida. He is also survived by his brother and
sister-in-law, Terry and Monique Taylor of Lafayette, Louisiana; his sister and
brother-in-law, Eileen and David Kelley, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and his
sister, Janna Willis of Pindall, Arkansas, the Bailey family and many nieces,
nephews, cousins, golf buddies and friends too numerous to count.
Before he settled in North Arkansas nearly half a century ago, Tim's adventures
took him around the globe.
He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on August 23, 1950, but he
spent most of his childhood in the Caribbean. His family moved to Anaco,
Venezuela in 1957, and he attended a British boarding school in Barbados. He
joined the Navy in 1969, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served
on the U.S.S. Hancock as an Aviation Ordinance Petty Officer. He was honorably
discharged in 1973, after which he settled in northwest Arkansas.
Tim was a devoted father who taught his children the importance of independence,
integrity, work ethic and the true meaning of personal ownership in life. His
face was never brighter than when he was talking with pride about his children
and the lives, careers, and families they have created for themselves. He was
always excited to share with you stories about his grandchildren's escapades,
near and far.
Tim was a valued employee during his 29 -year tenure as a technician with Pepsi
Co.; it was said that when he retired, the company had to hire three employees
to replace him. The loyalty that you could expect from him in all areas of his
life shone through with respect to Pepsi and you'd be in big trouble if he found
you with a competitor's soda in your hand! Tim also started a small business,
Taylor Refrigeration and Repair, through which he put his technical gifts to
work to fix any problem someone could throw at him.
Anyone who knew Tim would tell you, however, that sports were his primary
passion. He turned a childhood love for playing ping-pong with his brother into
a life-long pastime. He regularly bowled a perfect game and could fillet a fresh
caught fish in under two minutes, leaving no bone in sight. But golf was his one
true sporting love, so much so that, when he began to have health struggles
later in life, he would find motivation in getting healthy enough to get back
out onto the golf course. In sports, Tim found an outlet for the discipline, joy
in life, and comradery that defined his life. In that realm, as in all others,
giving up was never a choice.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison on
Saturday 10/7/17 @ 2pm. Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to gather
and celebrate Tim's life at his home immediately following the service.
