Thomas Lester Halbmaier Sr, 78, of Lead Hill, Arkansas passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at his home.
Tom was born on September 23, 1939 to Les and Grace Halbmaier in Marengo, Illinois. He moved to Lead Hill in 1978 along with his wife and 10 children.
Tom was a welder by trade and owned his own business, Maier Fabrication. He was known as a hard-worker and an honest, fair businessman to all who knew him and he was a generous provider for his family. Tom enjoyed fishing, playing pinochle, dancing and gardening. He loved to get up early to watch the sunrise after which he would take his dog, Tooney, to the cafe for morning coffee with friends. He enjoyed watching sports, bowling, and having a good time. More than anything else, he loved his family and was always happiest when his house was full. His family was always his biggest source of pride.
Tom was the husband to Linda Halbmaier for 48 years.
He was the father to eight sons and two daughters, Darald Halbmaier and wife Patty, of Cassville, Missouri, Randy Halbmaier, of Hollister, Missouri, Dennis Halbmaier and wife Joyce, of Coushatta, Louisiana, Debbie DeVore and husband Rob, of Bergman, Toby Packard and wife Sabrina, of Hot Springs, Kevin Halbmaier and wife Dianna, of Diamond City, Joe Halbmaier, of Springdale, Stacey Valentin and husband Rodney, of Bergman, Tom Halbmaier, Jr., and wife Carol, of Bentonville, and Josh Halbmaier, of Lead Hill.
He was the brother to Gary Halbmaier of Mead, Nebraska and Colleen Thurow of Hampshire, Illinois. He was loved by his 25 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda; his parents; two grandchildren Maegan Noelle Burt and Christina Lynn Halbmaier; and his nephew, Mike Johnson.
Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Lighthouse Bible Church in Diamond City, with Pastor Willie Bousquet officiating. Burial will follow at Milum Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00PM Thursday at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.
Pallbearers will be his sons Darald, Randy, Dennis, Toby, Kevin, Joe, Tom and Josh.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Hills, 501 E. Sherman, Harrison, AR, 72601 or Ozark Humane Society at PO Box 542, Harrison, AR, 72602.
