Thelma Grace Vaughn, age 90, of Lowell, Arkansas formerly of Wayton, Arkansas, passed away June 8, 2012 at the Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Arkansas.
The daughter of Reverend Carl F. Wood and Rosa (Belle) Wood was born on Aug. 7, 1921 in Freedom, Iowa.
Thelma was very active in the Wayton United Baptist Church. The original structure was built by her father. Her greatest joy in life was teaching Sunday School there, which she did for many years. Along with her husband she was also very instrumental in upgrading and improving her church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. She was a wonderful seamstress and cook. She enjoyed being a hostess, the arts and crafts clubs and quilting bees.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Columbus (Dood) Vaughn; and two sisters, Margaret and Violet.
She is survived by one daughter, Pat (Patsy) Vaughn of Lowell, Arkansas; one grandson, Vaughn-Michael Cordes and wife Monica of Lowell, Arkansas; five great-grandchildren, Joey, Emily, Grace, Karnell and Mason; two sisters-in-law, Fern Reynolds and Rhoda Vaughn and numerous nieces and nephews and other friends and family who will mourn her passing.
Services was Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Wayton United Baptist Church with Reverend Donnie Villines officiating. Burial followed in Snow Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday at the Coffman Chapel in Jasper, Arkansas.
Pallbearers included Vaughn-Michael Cordes, Greg Polus, Wes Canady, Jessie Fultz, Randy Allen and Garland Brasel.
