Obituary

To the love of my life, my wife, Syma Medley,

We always said if there was two people that deserved each other it was me and you, Amen to that! They say love is blind, and I love you so very much. I would like to take time and write you one last love letter, to remind you of some things I know you loved and some things you hated and things I learned about you during our 35 years of a great marriage.

I know we have had a few minor bumps in the road like any married couple does, but I know that both of us would not have picked any other person to build a life and raise a family with. We made decisions and raised our family the best we knew how (not always perfect), to quote you, telling the kids, "We're not the Waltons you know!"

I know you were born in Broomfield, Colorado December 18th, 1953 , the oldest daughter of Stan Hinnant and Bobby Johnson. I know you have a younger brother, Mark Hinnant and his wife Debbie that live in Grand Junction, Colorado. I know you have a very special cousin Susie that lives in Elizabeth, Colorado, that you love like the sister you never had. I know you have a special friend Karen Curtis that was always there for you, through thick and thin, coming to visit with you almost every week at Countryside.

I know that you loved your Bunco Gals! Playing Bridge on Thursday 's, all the trips to the swimming hole in the summer with the Clinton Creek Neighborhood! And of course all the family time and trips to the Campbell Family Cabin in Stonewall, Colorado.

I also know you have a love for your oldest son Chris Rockert of Grand Junction, Colorado. As you can verify, he came to live with us during some of those blissful teenage years! I know that even through difficult circumstances, and things not always in your control, your unconditional love toward him and his wife Dalys and their three kids Caleb, Haylee, and Urijah is beyond measure.

I know you loved living in the Cabin at Lead Hill that we built with our own two hands. You always said you had a relationship with your house. You loved us living in the woods out by ourselves with wintertime fires in the fireplace, and summertime sitting on the porch! More than once I have heard you tell people, "when you come up our driveway, you hear banjos playing!"

I know that you have a daughter, Heather Jenkins that you love very much, and that you and her have that special mother/daughter bond, that me, as a man, will never understand, but I know your love for her and her husband Mark Jenkins is unshakable. The only thing that might come close, is your love for their two children Bracen and Bekah Jenkins. You always enjoy going to see them in Harrison.

I know you looked forward to family lunches on Fridays at the Cabin. Bracen coming out and "Cowboying" with me. (Man! that Cowboy water, is good water!). Bekah, always the spitfire, with a personality bigger than her britches. And Jade in the middle of the mix!

And to quote you once again, "then there was Bo!" You have a deep love for your youngest son and his wife Nichole. We spent this Christmas meal with the family at their home on Bear Creek in Lead Hill. I know you told Nichole, that you were going to get to hold Braelynn first. You were saddened that God called their baby son home in 2012. But I know you rejoiced in the birth of their daughter Jade, you love her, and think she is very special little girl. I know you delight in her love for animals, I'm thinking, she gets part of that from you.

I know that you rejoiced and are asking God for favor on the announcement that they are expecting another grandchild for us! It's due date on my birthday, February 19th . Amazing how God lines things up, Bekah was born on our anniversary, August 14th !

I know you left this world to go be with Jesus on December 28th, 2022 at NARMC in Harrison, Arkansas. I know that Alzheimer's is a terrible disease and that you hated having it. You told me that, more than once. You hated how it affected your relationship with your family and how it limited the activities and time, you could spend with them. I know that the residents and staff at Countryside will miss you. I know I am thankful for them, I am thankful for the residents; helping ease your symptoms, by letting you help them.

And finally; this I do know, you loved Jesus and you loved me, with all your heart, Jesus has your soul, but I had your heart. I have you listed in my phone contacts as Sweetheart Medley, because from our second date I was smitten and in love. They say marriage can be a living heaven or a living hell, depending on who you are married too. Our marriage is like where you are right now, Heaven! I love you sweetheart and always will!

Your soulmate and loving husband, Bruce
