Sylvia Pable, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and faithful friend, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Hillcrest Home after 27 wonderful years in her community.
Originally from Des Plaines, Illinois, Sylvia brought warmth, grace, and compassion to everyone she met.
A member of the United Church of Christ, Sylvia lived a life grounded in faith, kindness, and service. She was a woman of many interests—she found joy in gardening, scrapbooking, reading novels, and staying informed about current events. Sylvia also had a deep love for gospel and country music and delighted in collecting beautiful things. Her fondness for picnics and the simple pleasures in life reflected her gentle and generous spirit.
Sylvia was the heart of her family. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, John "Jack" Pable. Together, they shared 68 loving years of marriage, celebrating their union on October 19, 1957. She was a nurturing mother to her daughters Debra Kois (Alan), Sandra Pable (Mark), and Jacqueline Mundie (John), and a proud grandmother to Brandi Warnock (Matt), Nicole Kramer (Chris), John Kois (Ana), Katie Moseley (Ray), Joseph Kois, Ryan Mundie (Marley), and Kyle Mundie (Hunter). Her legacy continues in her great-grandchildren: Logan, Ava, Aubrey, Kensie, Bella, Scarlett, Cayden, Roman, and Fern.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Leota Pearl Flanders (Beard), and her sister, Laura Groves (Flanders). She is also remembered lovingly by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Her care and concern extended beyond her family to her community and country. Sylvia was a generous supporter of many causes, particularly the Disabled Veterans, and she always acted with compassion and conviction.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Hillcrest Home, including the nurse practitioner, nurses, CNAs, caregivers, and volunteers for their kindness and care.
A private funeral service will be held for the immediate family. Honorary pallbearers include her grandsons: John Kois, Joseph Kois, Ryan Mundie, and Kyle Mundie. Sylvia will be laid to rest at Maine Township Cemetery in Park Ridge, Illinois.
Her loving spirit, unwavering faith, and lifelong commitment to others will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
