Obituary

Summer Mary Rykert, age 40, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed away on August 17, 2025, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by those who loved her most.

Born on May 28, 1985, in Dunedin, Florida, to Michael J. and Margie (Lach) Stephen, Summer lived a life full of creativity, kindness, and quiet strength. She graduated from J.W. Mitchell High School in New Port Richey, Florida, in 2003 and went on to study at St. Petersburg College and North Arkansas College. Always driven to serve others, she was a proud member of AmeriCorps.

Summer had a natural artistic talent and a deep love for the simple joys in life. Whether she was painting, drawing, cooking a new recipe, or scrapbooking memories, she poured her heart into everything she did. She loved playing games with family and friends—especially Rummy—and she had a competitive spirit balanced by her easy laugh and big heart.

She was also an avid sports fan who could light up any room when cheering on her favorite teams. Watching the game was never just about the score—it was about the experience, the energy, and sharing it with others.

Above all, Summer was a person of faith. As a member of Mary Mother of God Catholic Church in Harrison, she carried her beliefs with quiet dignity and found peace in her spiritual life.

She was preceded in death by her father, Michael J. Stephen, and her grandparents, Nellie and Steve Lach.

Her memory will be carried forward by her loving husband of seven years, Nick Rykert; her devoted mother, Margie Stephen; her aunt, Marion Baldree; her beloved little dog, Jax; and a wide circle of cousins, extended family, and friends who were lucky enough to know her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison. A Rosary will be said at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, both on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Mary Mother of God Catholic Church, with Father Ben Riley celebrating the Mass.

Summer had a gentle soul, a generous heart, and a sparkle that could brighten anyone's day. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she gave will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
