Steve Tarochione, 91, of Harrison, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
The son of Steven and Marie (Lanfrankie) Tarochione was born on July 9, 1931 in Marseilles, Illinois.
Steve was a Retired Lt. Col after serving 23 years in the U.S. Air Force. While in the Air Force, he flew B-52 bomber planes and worked at SAC headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska. He also attended the first computer programming school in the country while in the military. After retirement from the Air Force, Steve took his knowledge of computer programming and became a professor of computer programming and mathematics at North Arkansas College in Harrison, where he taught for several years.
He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. There wasn't a fishing lure or a gun out there that he wouldn't buy. He enjoyed movies and tv shows, especially westerns and sci-fi and was a country music fan. Steve was also an avid reader and a life-long learner.
Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a longtime member of Mary Mother of God Catholic Church and was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by one son, Mark Tarochione; one daughter, Wendy Arnold; his parents; and one brother, Charles Tarochione.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Loretta Tarochione, of the home; one daughter, Mary Tarochione, of New York City; two grandchildren, Ashley Goins and husband, Jeff, of Fort Smith and Zac Arnold and wife, Katie, of Rogers, AR; and two great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Denver Goins.
Visitation will be Monday, August 15, 2022 at Coffman Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Mary Mother of God Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. The Celebrant will be Father Benjamin Riley. A rosary will precede the Mass and will start at 9:30 AM. Burial with military honors will follow the Mass at Maplewood Cemetery. Member of the Knights of Columbus will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Zac Arnold and Jeff Goins.
