Obituary

James Steven "Steve" Horn, of Western Grove, Arkansas was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at home. He was 74 years old.

The son of Upton and Joyce (Lewis) Horn was born November 4, 1950 in Harrison. He was a lifelong resident of Boone and Newton Counties and a 1969 graduate of Harrison High School.

Steve was a very involved member of Elmwood Baptist Church. He drove the church van, taught Sunday School, served as an usher – or literally any other task that he was needed for at church. He served with a giving and loving heart. He kept a Bible in every room in his house. He lived a Godly life and longed for everyone to be saved and to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

He was a hard worker, spending many years roofing, hauling cattle and recently, driving a dump truck. In between jobs, he enjoyed the occasional stop at Grice's Deli to visit with friends.

Steve lived for God and his family. He was a devoted dad and grandpa, and he was blessed with three grandchildren and three great grandchildren that he adored. Steve never missed a ball game or school event. He has driven countless miles to be there for everything.

Steve was a compassionate caregiver for his mother during her battle with Alzheimer's, never complaining, and tending to her every need. He loved his siblings and spending time with them.

Steve's life revolved around God, his family, his church family, and his community. He was loved and he will greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Upton Horn, and his mother, Joyce Horn-Rains.

Steve is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Christy Horn; his grandchildren, Kelsey (Hayden) Alsup, Kamey Horn, and Kaden (Alaina) Horn; great grandchildren, Beau, Breece, and Emmy; siblings, Lisa Horn Dixon, Micky (Ann) Horn, and Brenda Austin; his step-father, Mitchell Rains; special relative, Justin Dillon and his family, as well as a host of extended relatives and many dear friends.

A celebration of Steve's life will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, June 28 (2025) at Elmwood Baptist Church, 6591 Prairie View Rd., Harrison, AR.  Pastor Ron Malone will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Western Grove Cemetery.
