Silas T. Boyd, age 90, of Harrison died Friday, May 21, 2010 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, Arkansas.
Silas was born July 3, 1919 at Ben Hur, Arkansas. He was the son of S.T. and Cora Belle (Blalock) Boyd.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Fay.
Mr. Boyd served in the Army in the 168th and 749th Field Artillery Battalion during World War II in the U.S. and Okinawa.
He was a member of the Harrison Round Up club and enjoyed the Blue Grass festival and Saturday night music at the college. He taught school in California for 21 years. He was a member of the Orgen Flat Baptist Church in Bergman and attended church at Ozark Baptist Church. He was also a member of the American Quarter Horse Association.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris C. (Claypool) Boyd of Harrison; one daughter, Kay Jackson and husband Gary; one grandson, Lorne Jackson and wife Carla; one great-granddaughter, Elle, all of Harrison; one brother, James E. Boyd and wife Pat of Lubbock, Texas; and numerous family and friends who will miss him greatly.
Graveside service was Monday, May 24th, 2010 at Maplewood Cemetery with George Smith and Gene France officiating.
Visitation was held at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.
Honorary pallbearers were Gary and Lorne Jackson and Dr. Kevin Jackson and Dr. Scott Ferguson.
