Shirley Sue Rhoades, age 70 of Novelty, Missouri passed away, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, Missouri.
She was born March 7, 1951 in Sacramento, California to Charles Clifford and Vera Lorene (Wilson) Marler. On October 10, 2009, in Novelty, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Ronald Gene Rhoades.
Shirley enjoyed riding around and looking at wildlife. She also loved her dogs, going to flea markets and helping on the farm. Most of all she loved being with her family and the enjoyment they brought to her life.
Shirley received her education in Fort Bragg and Rio Linda, California. She had been employed at Maytag in Clarence for several years and then as a custodian for South Shelby Schools before retiring. She attended the Union Church at Clarence.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jimmy Charles Marler.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Gene Rhoades, of Novelty, MO; one daughter, Anneka Focht of Clarence, MO; one son, Justin Focht and his wife, Tara, of Clarence, MO; her mother-in-law, Judith Rhoades, of Novelty, MO; two brothers, Donnie Joe Marler and his wife, Karen and Donald Ray Marler, all of Rio Linda, CA; one sister, Barbara Ann "Bobbie" Noss, of Mt. Judea, AR; five grandchildren, Cassidy, Josh, Jorja, Brooklyn, and Grayson Focht; and one great granddaughter, Lorelei Focht.
Funeral service is Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the Mt. Judea Church of Christ at 10:00 AM. Michael Toland will officiate. Burial will follow at Noss-Marler Cemetery in Mt. Judea. Pallbearers are Justin Focht, Rex Cross, David Cross, Ronnie Ruff, Joe Cowell, and Ron Campbell. Honorary pallbearers include Donnie Marler, Donald Marler, Doug Johnson, Gary Marler, Charles Campbell, Ronnie Nichols, Dustin Cowell, Kendall Ruff, Joe Williams, and Mike Focht.
