Obituary

Shirley Ann Johnson, age 86, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025 at the Blossoms at Berryville Nursing Home in Berryville, Arkansas.

The daughter of George C. and Ann Catherine (Goll) Stephens was born July 27, 1938 in Enid, Oklahoma.

Shirley enjoyed making crafts with friends, bingo and basking in the sun at The Blossoms.  All her friends and family will remember how much she enjoyed having iced tea with friends at the Dairy Diner and Ozark Café in Jasper.

Mom worked in Jasper for years, at the Laundry Mat as folder extraordinaire, and the Ozark Café.  Her most exciting job was as deputy at Newton County Jail.  Also, at Jasper Nursing home where she loved caring for the residents, and they loved her. She shared that caring heart into the community and cared for many in Jasper.

She is preceded by her son, Rodney Paul Johnson, her parents, George C. and Ann Catherine (Goll) Stephens, and her brothers, George Paul and Keith Wayne Stephens.

Shirley is survived by her sisters: Gladys LaRae Bonnet, Doris Kasper, Jerry Lou Zalabak, children: Kimberly (Johnson) Taylor, Joan (Johnson) Riddles, Kevin Johnson, and Stephen Johnson and 14 great and 13 great-great grandchildren.

Cremation and arrangements are with Coffman Funeral Home, and she will be laid to rest with her son Rodney Paul in the Jasper Cemetery.

In lieu of a memorial service, flowers, or donations, Shirley requested that friends and family take time to sit down, have a glass of tea, and hold the hands of their loved ones, sharing the love and care she cherished.
