Sharon (Malone) Urioste, age 79, of Pyatt, Arkansas, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 28, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born October 11, 1946 to Isabelle Haskins and was lovingly gifted at birth to her adoptive parents, Mamie and Jim Malone. She attended Lindsay, Oklahoma public schools where she graduated in 1964 and went on to attend and graduate from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1968.

Sharon married the love of her life, Don, on April 17, 1970. He was the best thing that happened to her, and the fulfillment of God’s plan for her. To their union, three children were born. To Sharon’s joy, her family continued to grow with grandchildren and great grandchildren that she doted over and loved dearly – to use her words, they “completed her reason for being”.

Sharon taught high school English, Social Studies, and Journalism for nearly fifty years. Thirty-nine of those years were at Bruno-Pyatt High School followed by nine years at North Arkansas College after she retired from public school teaching. She loved young people and was always willing to lend a helping hand or encouragement to them long after they had left her classroom.

She loved to read literature. She was also a beautiful singer and a talented floral artist. More than anything, Sharon loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and faithfully served Him to the end. She played the piano at Pyatt Baptist till she was not healthy enough to play anymore and served as church clerk for more than thirty years. Until her death, she maintained a morning Bible devotional scripture ministry that she sent out via computer to more than 60 friends and family. Sharon always desired that her legacy in death would be the message of the love of Jesus that she shared with others.

She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, her biological mother and father, her biological brothers, Jerry Haskins and Ray Henderson; biological sister, Doris Foust; and her niece, Sonya Haskins.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 56 years, Don Urioste; her children, Tracey Thiel (Brad), Steven Urioste, and Matthew Urioste (Brandy); five wonderful grandchildren, Vincent Thiel (Karri), Heather Fitzgerald (Drew), Nicholas Thiel (Hannah), Madison Reynolds (Logan), Mariah Urioste (Jackson Kilgore); and four precious great grandchildren, Oliver, Lawson, Emmett, and EllaMae. She is also survived by her biological siblings, Loretta May, Vickie Nielson, and Patrick Sandoz (Leoni); and a niece, Charity Morgan. She loved all her former students but special to her as second “daughters” were Sheila Wilkes and Sheila Schneider. She will also be mourned by a host of other friends and former students.

Sharon loved BIG. She had a heart of gold and was always eager to know what was going on with her family and friends. She was loved by everyone, especially her students. “Mrs. U” left a legacy of kindness, patience, encouragement and love, not only with her family, but with every student whose life she ever touched. She loved her family, her church, and her community and the mark she left will be passed on for generations to come.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 30, 2026 from 5 PM to 8 PM at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 1 at Patton Cemetery (1863 MC 4010, Yellville, AR). Pastors Tony Whitsell and Eldon Hellums will officiate.

Pallbearers are Brian Harris, Michael Young, Carey Lovaas, Chris Martin, Ben Dixon, Chris Perkins, Josh Burchfield, Tim Chaney, Kerry Saylors, Kenny DeYoung, and T.C. Elliott.
