Robert Sam Raney, age 85 of Everton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008 at St. John's Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. He was air-lifted there as a result of an automobile accident near Alpena and was there until his passing.
The son of Charlie Raney and Vila (Lemley) Raney, he was born November 10, 1922 at Alvarado, Texas.
Mr. Raney served during WWII in the U. S. Army and he and his wife moved to Everton in the 1950's from Texas.
He was a member of the Bellefonte Church of Christ and worked as a heavy equipment operator.
Sam was married to Jewel (Jeter) on Feb. 15, 1942 and she preceded him in death on November 26, 2003; also preceding him were his parents; a son, Spencer Raney and one brother, Earl Raney.
Surviving are his three sisters, Inez Raney Wilkerson and Jean Raney Pendergrass both of Brownfield, Texas and Wanda Raney Bailey of Burnet, Texas; several nieces and nephews; special friends, who were like family to Sam, Jeff and Kathy Henthorne and their children, Brooke and Ben.
Services were Wed. Oct, 29th, 2008 at Coffman Chapel with Ray Crawford officiating. Burial followed in Western Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Clancy McClintock, Ray Moore, David Grinder, Harold Grinder, Charles Fortner, and D.E. Journagan.
Visitation was open.
