Ruth Eddings Dodson, of Harrison, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Hospice of the Hills House.  She was 87 years old.

The daughter of Orville and Dottie (Sullivan) Eddings was born on November 6, 1936 in Cave Creek, Arkansas.

Ruth graduated from Mount Judea High School in 1955. As a teenager, she embraced her faith, and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a devoted member of the Church of Christ. Ruth co-owned Pants West, which had several locations throughout the Southern United States, and later became a Senior Living Sales Director for the Hyatt Corporation in Dallas. Her career allowed her to travel across the country, pursuing her passions.

In 2002, Ruth moved to Harrison to be closer to her beloved grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Grand." She cherished her time with Crystal, Jordan, Jacob, and her great-grandchildren, Hannah and Noah.

A lover of mystery novels, Ruth particularly enjoyed the works of John Grisham. Always up for a shopping trip, she thrived on being active and enjoyed countless hours chatting on the phone with family and friends. She especially treasured her daily calls with her grandson, Jacob, where they shared the latest news and updates. Ruth was a nurturing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and a dear friend to many, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lee Roy Eddings; her sister-in-law, Bonnie (McCutcheon) Eddings; and her brother-in-law, Junior Dodson.

Survivors include her two sons, Garry Dodson and Kelly Dodson and his wife, Rita; one sister, Kathy Dodson; father of her sons, Wayne Dodson; three grandchildren, Crystal Applegate and her husband, Justin, Jordan Dodson, and Jacob Dodson; two great grandchildren, Hannah Ruth Applegate and Noah Applegate; two nieces, Caron (Larry) Likens and Debbie (Doug) Madle; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm both will be held at Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison on Monday, October 21, 2024.  Ray Crawford will officiate.  Burial will be in Ben's Branch Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Garry, Kelly, Jordan, and Jacob Dodson, Justin Applegate, and Todd Eddings.  Honorary pallbearers include her "Little Bubs" Noah Applegate, her namesake, Hannah Ruth Applegate, Ben Eddings, and Joe Eddings.
