Ruby Maye Dean

Momma moved on up to Gloryland on July 1, 2008. She joined her sons, Charles and Wayne Dean, her dad and mom, Clane and Bertha Sisco, her sister, Marvell, and her brother, L.V. Sisco. She will be awaiting Fletcher, her husband of 60 years and the rest of her kids, Alan of Valley Springs, Keith and his wife, Alisa of Anderson Flat, Debbie of Western Grove, and Darlene Hudson and her husband, Ricky of Western Grove.

She loved her kids, but when the grandkids came along you would have thought spankings never happened in her house. Those grandkids were special and she was proud of them. Then when the great grandkids started arriving, spankings didn't even need to be discussed in front of her because it broke her tender heart.

Momma was a strong supporter of the Western Grove School, where she graduated in 1947, and later dedicated 33 years of her life working in the school system. She quickly gained the respect of the kids and many to this day still call her Ms. Dean. She and Dad were faithful supporters of the Warrior athletic teams. It was a rare occasion for them to miss a basketball game, home or away, especially if there were kids or grandkids playing.

Mom always looked forward to the mail running each day. At that time she would take a break from her work and read the letters that arrived from her pen pal friends. She passed many enjoyable hours corresponding to her friends all over the United States. She was a charter member of the Western Grove Bible Church where those attending the church became more than friends, they became family.

During the past 6 years, she fought with determination and spunk against the illnesses of this world never complaining much. She was born on November 18, 1928 and lived 79 years here on this earth impacting many. She is now celebrating in heaven and hopes to see you there someday too.

Visitation was Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison. Services were Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the funeral home Chapel with Dennis Sisco officiating. Burial followed in Western Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tom Taylor, Scott Robinson, Wes Guynn, Aaron Foster, John Bartlow, and Gaylen Saylors.
