Ruby Lee Carter, age 90 of Jasper, AR, was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Newton County Nursing Home in Jasper.

The daughter of Sam and Virgie (Hallum) Mefford was born on January 25, 1932, in Jasper, AR.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leroy Carter SR; her brothers James Roy Mefford and Don Rolland; and her sister, Maxine Campbell.

Ruby was a member of the Harrison Moose Lodge. She was a beautician for over 40 years and owned The Golden Comb Beauty Salon in Harrison, AR.  She and her husband Leroy owned and operated multiple businesses in Newton County. She also worked at the Jasper Senior Center and the Dairy Diner.

Ruby was a mother to multiple generations of her family. She cooked for everyone and welcomed anyone into her home.

She is survived by her son Leroy Carter JR of Jasper; her daughter, Pamela Carter of Jasper; her brothers, Junior Daryl Mefford of Valley Springs, AR, Bill Mefford (Pat) of Oklahoma, and Jack Mefford (Jackie) of Jasper; her sister, Wanda Swafford of Springdale, AR; her grandchildren, Monica Gunelic, Heather Carter, and Jake Carter; her great-grandchildren, Korban Campbell, Madison Campbell, Garrett McDonald, Caleb Carter, and Clayton Carter; and a host of other family and friends.

The funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper with Pastor Bobby Young officiating. Burial will follow in Jasper Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jake Carter, Korban Campbell, Caleb Carter, Garrett McDonald, Elan Gunelic, and Ronald Chasteen.

Honorary pallbearers are Clayton Carter, Bryan Campbell, Dr. Richter, and the Newton County Nursing Home Staff.
