Ronald Douglas Tomasich, age 59 of Harrison, passed away at UAMS in Little Rock on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007. The son of Henry Albert and Joyce Virginia (Crouse) Tomasich, was born May 2, 1947 at Hollywood, California. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam conflict and served as a medic. He also received two Purple Hearts, three Bronze Service Stars and Oak Leaf Cluster for valor. Ron had moved to Harrison five years ago from Russellville and was of Methodist faith. He was retired from the Social Security Administration as a supervisor. Presently, he was a volunteer coach for Jasper School; a member of the Jasper Booster Club; enjoyed all sports and assisted with the baseball summer program at Jasper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joyce and Tommy Tomasich and his mother-in-law, Genevieve Hudson.
Survivors include his wife, Cecilia Diane (Hudson) Tomasich, whom he married on December 13, 1975 at Clarksville, AR; his brother, Kenneth Ray Tomasich and his wife, Dixie (Fowler) of Boxley; a sister-in-law, Peggy Rills and husband, Dr. Barry Rills of Baton Rouge, LA; two nephews, Kenny Fowler Tomasich of Boxley and Jonathan D. Rills of Baton Rouge, LA; one niece, Sarah K. Rills of Baton Rouge, LA; his father-in-law, Cecil Hudson of Clarksville; along with numerous other family and friends.
Visitation was Monday, Feb. 5th at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper. Service followed Tuesday, Feb. 6th at Jasper High School Gym with Bro. Stephen Davis officiating and Senator Randy Laverty assisting. Burial was in Jasper Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ray Daniels, Jim Harp, Jerry Harrison, Jeff Lewis, Randy Laverty, Walter McElroy, David Presley, and Don Simpkins. Honorary Pallbearers were Gerald Sims, Joe Couch, Coach Debra Crawford, Jasper Basketball teams, Jasper Booster Club, Jasper School faculty, staff and students.
Family request that memorials be made in his memory to the Jasper Booster Club, PO Box 446, Jasper, AR 72641. These memorials will be used to award a scholarship to a Jasper student to attend NAC in Harrison.
