Robert D. Mapes, of Harrison, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. He passed away at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home at the age of 67.
Robert was born July 29, 1956, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Robert Dale Mapes, Sr., and Laminda "Bobbie" Mapes. He graduated from Fort Wayne High School and moved to Arkansas in 1974.
Robert owned GolfStx, and his joy was building clubs and golf instruction. He was the Pastor of Light of Christ Church, and he loved the Lord and reading God's word.
He was a loving, devoted husband to his best friend and soulmate, Debbie, for 48 years. July would have been their 49th anniversary. They enjoyed traveling together, especially to Hawaii. This past November, they had their 26th trip there together.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Ira "Butch" Ake and John Walters.
Robert is survived by his wife, Debbie Mapes; his fur baby, Max; three sisters, Brenda Ake of Harrison, Janis Davis and husband John of Pennsylvania, and Carol Walters of Georgia; his brother-in-law, Keith Sain of Harrison; and sisters-in-law, Lisa Scheuter and husband Mark of Harrison and Valerie Wheeler and husband Doyle of Ozone; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and dear friends who loved him and will miss him.

Funeral service will be at 10 AM Monday, June 10 (2024) at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at White Church Cemetery. Bro. Jethy Henson will officiate.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 PM to 4 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are David Wheeler, Eric Sain, Bennett Kolb, Cleyton Ake, Scott Cotham, Murry Bryant, and Sean Rader.
