Robert L. Long, age 61 of Western Grove, Ar, went home to be with his Heavenly Father at Baxter Regional Medical Center Saturday, July 21, 2007. The son of John and Lillian (Burt) Long, was born at Rosie, Arkansas on Sept. 30, 1945. He had lived in Western Grove for 29 years and was married to Della (Ferguson) Long. Robert worked for Arkhola Readi-mix for 15 years, prior to retirement. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving 18 months in the Vietnam Conflict.
He was an avid gardener and was a prankster. His family and friends were very special to him and he never met a stranger. Most of all, he loved the Lord and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Western Grove.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, John Long and his mother, Lillian Case; brothers, Johnnie and A. J. Long; and his step-dad, Alfred Case.
Surviving are his wife, Della Long of the home; son, Dennis Long and wife, Sandi, and their son, Will of Gilbert, son, Brian Long and wife Allison and their daughters, Ashley and Emily of Bergman; four brothers, Loyd, and Boyce Long of Manila, Lonnie of Mtn. Home, Otis of Leachville; four sisters, Inez Lawrence of Walls, MS, Linda Starnes of Thayer, MO, Virginia Collins of Vendor, and Ruby Cardet of Valley Springs; step-brothers, Lloyd Case of Valley Springs, and Doy, Cecil and Lonnie Case.
He will be missed by a host of sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was Monday, July 30, 2007 with service on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Western Grove Cemetery. Rev. Jack H. Searcy will officiated.
Pallbearers were his nephews and honorary pallbearers will be members of First Baptist Church in Western Grove.
Family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Western Grove in his memory.
