Obituary
On January 18, 2008, Robert J. Hopes, passed away after a long fight with chronic lung problems. He was a retired canoe rental owner/operator on the Buffalo River and continued his career as a carpenter. He served as a Paratrooper in the Korean War and had lived in Newton County for 35 years.
He was born in Iowa on May 20, 1933, the son of Oscar and Minnie (Kopitar) Hopes.
Surviving are his wife, Jennifer Hopes and 4 step-sons, Dan Tucker, Mark and Matthew Rupp and Tim Moore.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are by Coffman Funeral Home.
