Robert Arthur “Bob” Davidhizar, age 86, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed away surrounded by family on Monday August 3, 2026, at Countryside Nursing Home in Jasper, Arkansas.

He was the youngest of 8 children born to Henry and Eloise (Broyles) Davidhizar. He was born on January 8, 1940, in Newberg Township, Michigan. He entered the US Army in June 1960 and was stationed in Hawaii during his enlistment. He was honorably discharged in May 1963.

In 1964, Bob married Katie Mae Miller, and they had two daughters, Roberta and Beth. They divorced in 1973. He married Connie Baker, and adopted her daughter Maria Ann, to become a family of five. Bob and Connie were together 52 years before her passing in January 2026.

While living in Three Rivers, Michigan, Bob worked for the St. Joseph County Road Commission for several years, when he moved to Arkansas in 1984, he continued his road department career with Boone County Road Department. He also drove a bus for Bruno-Pyatt Schools for a number of years.

In his youth, Bob loved football. He played defensive tackle in high school and for the army. During the 1960’s he was a player on the Detroit Lions Practice Squad, playing along side Dick “Night Train” Lane and Alex Karras. While Alex was out filming the sitcom “Webster”, Bob filled in for Alex on the practice squad – he even got to wear Alex’s #71 jersey while he was playing his position.

After Bob moved to Arkansas, he also took up ranching. He operated his ranch at Everton for over 30 years. He loved to coon hunt and enjoyed raising coon dogs, especially his favorite dog, Happy. He also built custom dog boxes. He also loved deer hunting and fox hunting. He was always interested in how things worked and liked to tinker with things to make them work better.

Bob was a great conversationalist and a great storyteller He never met a stranger. He had a constant string of one-liners, waiting to zing anyone who fell for it. He had a gift for making people laugh. He loved his family. Preserving family history was very important to him. Bob loved to have family reunions, and he was always involved in planning and encouraging family about the importance of attending. He has influenced generations and his memory will be treasured.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Connie Davidhizar; three brothers, Dale Davidhizar, Sr., Henry “Hank” Davidhizar, and Don Davidhizar; and four sisters, Jean Hendricks, Marlene Stout, Zelma Castle, and Mable Dillingham.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Roberta Davidhizar of Centreville, MI, Beth (Rick) Miller of Leonidas, MI, and Maria Ann (David) Burns of Olathe, KS; six grandchildren, Hannah (Michael) Kandolf, Abby Miller, Bryce Miller, Heather Davidhizar, Phillip Davidhizar, and Jim Burns; four great grandchildren, Evelyn and Haven Kandolf and Katie and Riley Davidhizar. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many dear friends.

Visitation and graveside service will both be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026. The visitation will be held from 9 am to 10 am at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 11 AM, at Anderson Flat Cemetery. Larry Anderson will officiate.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
