Richard Lewis Madewell, 77 of Harrison, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The son of Frank and Anna (Cosby) Madewell was born December 26, 1940 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Richard moved to Harrison 16 years ago from Munford, Tennessee after retiring from the State of Tennessee, Department of Intellectual Disabilities. He was also a retired US Navy Sr. Chief with 22 years of service and a Vietnam War Veteran. He was a member of Oregon Flat Baptist Church.
He loved to program computers and did web design for many churches. His passion for computers led him to donate a great deal of his time not only to church web design, but he also taught computer classes at the senior center. He enjoyed remote control airplanes and he loved listening to music, particularly bluegrass and old country. Richard enjoyed the mountains and his dog "Joy". He was an excellent provider, a good brother and he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mildred Hardzog.
Richard is survived by his wife of 31 years, Bonita Madewell of the home; his step-children, Tammy Fulghum (Bob) of Saganaw, MN, Michael Robertson (Beth) of McEwen, TN, and Tina Davis (Tom) of Arlington, TN; his sister, Lois Madewell Rooker of Harrison, AR; his brothers, James Madewell (Ruby) of Keysville, GA and Larry Hardzog (Betsy) of Enid, MS; and a host of step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Monday, December 3, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison with Pastor Gary Sloan and Pastor Coma Rivers officiating. Private burial at New Hope Cemetery near Omaha, Arkansas will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Gideon's International, PO Box 997, Harrison, AR, 72602.
