IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rex Savage,
Sr.
July 26, 1935 – April 16, 2021
Rex Dean Savage, Sr, 85, of Harrison was welcomed into the arms of Jesus, April 16, 2021.
Rex was born July 26, 1935 in Harmon, Arkansas, the youngest son of Lin and Lura (Holland) Savage. Rex gave his heart to the Lord many years ago. He was a member of Faith Baptist Chapel in Valley Springs and also attended Heritage Baptist Church in Bear Creek Springs.
Rex attended Olvey School and Harrison High School. He was a lifetime farmer and at various times throughout his life, he was employed by local feed stores.
He met the love of his life and married his wife of 40 years, Nadean Smith Curry on May 28, 1966. They made their home together on Maxie Camp Road and had five children.
Rex was well known for his extraordinary memory. At 85 years old, he recently quoted his first line in his first ever school play at the age of six. Many family members and friends were amazed at his knowledge of the history of Harrison, and his knowledge of ancestry details of community members. He was also well known for completing mathematical calculations in his mind while no pen or paper necessary. Many family members and friends genuinely enjoyed listening to him share 'ol time stories.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadean, his parents, two brothers, Norman and Herman Savage, a son, Wayne Curry, and a daughter, Cathleen Savage.
Rex is survived by his children, Gayla Sandy (Ken), Rex Dean Savage, Jr. (Rebekah), and Tammi Savage, all of Harrison; three granddaughters, Stacey Bressler (Wil), Michelle Jenks (Aaron), Magan Curry; two grandsons, Tyler Savage (Brooklyn), and Elisha Savage; six great-grandsons, Jaden Holt, Kory and River Jenks, David Huskisson III, Koleman Curry and R.J. Slape, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 10 AM at Coffman Funeral Home with Bro. Rex Savage, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery on Maxie Camp Road in Harrison.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include Tyler Savage, Elisha Savage, Jaden Holt, Curt Savage, David Savage, Rick Savage, and Steve Savage.
Franklin Savage as Honorary Pallbearer.
