Rex Dean Middleton, age 81 of Vendor, moved to his heavenly home, Friday, January 28, 2022, at Mt. Vista Health Care in Harrison, AR.
He was born April 12, 1940, in Vendor, AR. He was the son of Otto and Wilma (Criner) Middleton. He graduated from Mt. Judea High School and Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, AR. He married Mary Evelyn Flood on May 31, 1960, in Vendor. They were parents of 2 children. He taught school at Log Hall and Mt. Judea for 12 years before the Lord called him to preach 50 years ago. He was an ordained minister with Assemblies of God. He pastored 40 years in 4 churches; Harriet, Western Grove, Norfork, and Vendor. He also served on the Presbytery Board of the Arkansas District Council of the Assemblies of God.
He enjoyed being a mentor to young ministers and spending time with his family and church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Evelyn of 61 years; one son Timothy (Teresa) Middleton of Western Grove, AR; one daughter Suzanne (Tony) Forest of Harrison; 4 grandchildren, Colby (Lorrie) Forest, Hayden Forest, and LaRae and LaKen Middleton; 3 great-grandchildren, Noah, Ivory, and Owen Forest; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Connie Middleton; one niece Pattie (Jeff) Wheeler; Two great-nephews, Zack (Stormey) Wheeler and Quincy (Lacey) Wheeler; Two great-great nieces, Merrin and Willa Wheeler; a host of family, friends, and ministries.
The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Vendor Big Creek Assembly of God with Pastor Steve Holt, Tollie Sutterfield, and Colby Forest officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM Tuesday prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Wheeler, Zack Wheeler, Quincy Wheeler, Scott Hankins, Ben Hankins, Drew Hankins, Richard Smith, and Greg Norton.
Special thanks to the Mt. Vista Health Care family for the love and care given to (The Preacher, Paw, Brother Rex, Rexie) also the kindness shown to Mary (the Preacher's wife) and family. We will always be grateful for the exceptional and personal care given to our loved ones.
