Obituary

Raymond "Raymie" Dean Leesman, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024. He was 89 years old.

The son of Lawrence and Bernice (Amberg) Leesman was born June 22, 1935 in Atlanta, Illinois. Raymie was the 1st of 7 children, and he was born on his dad's birthday.

He started working at 8 years old helping his dad and uncle on the farm. After high school, he worked at a grain elevator for 10 years and then as a mechanic at Fink Chevrolet in Emden, Illinois.

In 1972, Raymie and Irma moved from Illinois to Harrison, Arkansas. He worked at Bill Wood Chevrolet until 1981 when he opened his own business, "Raymie's Truck Shop", which he owned and operated for 28 years. He was a member of Crossroads Community Church.

Raymie enjoyed fishing and taking care of his garden and yard. He also enjoyed the great trips that he and Irma were able to take. It was always fun when he and Irma could follow their granddaughters, Jessica and Whitney's basketball games, cheerleading and dance.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roger Leesman and Russell Leesman; and a sister, Frances Nollman.

Raymie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Irma Leesman, of the home; his children, Dean (Rita) Deterts of Harrison, AR, Gary (Tammy) Deterts, Steve (Annette) Leesman, Pam Page, and Kelly (Rick) Mutters, all of Illinois; 10 grandchildren, several great grandchildren. Two of the granddaughters, Jessica Deterts of Harrison, AR and Whitney (Hunter) Sims and their daughter Berkley of Yellville, AR, held a special place in his heart. Also surviving are his sisters, Sandy (Mike) Beck, Connie Tammeus (Davy) Schriber), all of Illinois; a brother, Stan (Kathy) Leesman of Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.
