Obituary

Prudence Norton, age 100 of Deer, AR, passed away Monday, May 9, 2022, at Legacy Heights Nursing Home in Russellville, AR.

The daughter of Columbus and Polly (Snow) Benegar was born June 16, 1921, in Wayton, AR.

She was proceeded in death by seven brothers and sisters, Archie Benegar of Fort Smith, AR, Denver Benegar of Kansas City, MO, Honsel Benegar of Huntsville, AR, Ethel Ramsey of Sheridan, IN, Gertie Young of Fair Oaks, AR, Leotie Young of Fair Oaks, AR, and Otis Benegar of Wayton, AR; one son Lynn Carroll Norton of Pulaski, TN

Prudence and John were married on June 1, 1940.  They moved to Akron, Ohio, and lived there for 20 plus years. They then moved to Pulaski, Tennessee, for 46 years.  She was a homemaker, an Easter Star Masonic Order member, and raised registered Black Angus cattle. They moved to Deer in 2008 and she was a member of the Deer Baptist Church. She was an avid golfer.  She would play in tournaments to help raise money for children in need.  Her favorite golf partner was Minnie Pearl.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who loved her and will miss her.

The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday, May 16, 2022, at the Deer Baptist Church with Pastor Stan Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Nail, AR.

There will be a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Monday prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Spradley, David Cooper, Jimmy Cooper, Larry Davis, Joe Cowell, and Gary Spradley.
