Phyllis Jean Reser, age 86, of Jasper, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Cox Medical Center in Branson, Missouri.
The daughter of Ray and Juanita (Madewell) Clark was born December 18, 1935, in her grandparents' home on the outskirts of Parthenon, Arkansas.
She was raised in Powers, Oregon most of her childhood. She married Ross Owen Reser and together they had two children, Timothy Owen and Tracy Ann.
Phyllis was the first woman appointed to serve as the Director of Missouri Division of Family Services under Governor Joseph Teasdale.
She was an avid reader and passionate animal lover. Phyllis was also a great supporter of the Newton County Library and had developed many close friendships with friends of the library and book club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Juanita Clark and the father of her children, Ross Reser.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Timothy Owen Reser of Springfield and Tracy Ann Reser Buckman and husband, David of Arizona; two sisters, Rhonda Teter of Harrison and Mary Ann Sparks of Eugene, Oregon and seven nieces.
At her request, no services will be held. Memorial donations can be made in Phyllis' name to Newton County Library or Ozark Humane Society.
