Obituary

Phyllis Evon Crain, age 87 of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away Saturday, December 30 in Little Rock.

Phyllis was born March 19, 1930 outside of Harrison in the Grubb Springs community.  She was born at home in her grandmother and grandfather Crain's house.  She was the only child of the late Andrew Crain and Nora (Gaylor) Crain.  She was raised in the Grubb Springs community.  She graduated from Harrison High School and went to work for J. Fon Moore in the butane gas business and then the Arkansas Ozarks Railway, both in Harrison.  In 1959 she moved to Little Rock and lived with an aunt and uncle, Allie (Gaylor) Paul and Lon Paul, where she continued to live for some time.  She went to work for Benton Brandon Sr. and Doug Brandon at their company, Brandon Furniture Company, where she continued to work until officially retiring in 1995.  She continued to work there on a part time basis for a few more years.

She accepted Christ when she was 9 years old in a revival conducted by the late Rev. Elmer Cox and was baptized with a group in Crooked Creek on Highway 7 South.  She joined the Grubb Springs Baptist Church, in what is now the Grubb Springs Community Building.

She is survived by a host of cousins, one special one, Jillian Lee Woodruff, who adopted her to be her "Granny Phil".

Graveside services will be held Friday, January 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Grubb Springs Cemetery.
