Her siblings were Mary Louise Mallory Earle, George Frederick Mallory Earle and Alice and Agnes Pierce. She grew up in Lowell with her mother and younger sisters, Alice and Agnes. She married William "Bill" Andrew Adkins on January 31, 1940, in Lordsburg, New Mexico and lived in Lowell, and in Ashdown, Arkansas, then settled in Bellefonte, Arkansas in 1945, and in Harrison, in 1957.
She married Dors Cowels of Hasty, in 1960, and lived in Newton County since that time.

She enjoyed daily Bible study, reading, drawing and painting, embroidery, travel, family parties, spending time with friends at the Senior Center at Jasper, working crossword puzzles, and feeding and watching the birds. Pauline was known as "Maca" by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Her first grandchild, Terri Lawrence couldn't pronounce grandma and called her Maca. She was Maca to extended family and friends, as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, Morris Eli Pierce, brother, George Earle; sister, Agnes Armstrong; stepson, Horace Edward Adkins, and husbands, William Adkins, Dors Cowles and Wilbur Banes.

Pauline Beatrice Banes loved God, family, and country above all else. She is loved and missed by all who knew her and cared for her. If she could say "Thanks", today, to everyone, she would surely do it. "Farewell" to Maca, one of the most noble, kind and gracious ladies who lived.
