Obituary

Paul Moline Saunders, age 88 of Jasper, Ark. went to be with His Lord on August 4, 2017 at the Newton County Nursing Home. Paul was born November 9, 1928 in Waterloo, Ia., son of Ernest and Nellie Moline Saunders. He was married to Mary Lou Deits on May 30, 1947 at the Waterloo Grace Brethren Church with Rev. Arnold Kriegbaum officiating. Paul graduated from East High School in 1946. He became a bricklayer by trade and later formed his own company Paul Saunders Masonry. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, traveling and camping throughout his years. Paul was a civil war re-enactor and collected civil war guns and artifacts. He retired from his work and moved to Jasper, AR., where he built two homesteads, the first in Vendor and the second in Jasper. He was a member of the Waterloo Grace Brethren Church and attended the United Methodist Church in Jasper, Ark. Paul M. Saunders will be interred at the Jasper Cemetery, Jasper, AR.

Paul is survived by five children,  Paula McCully (Darrel), Mark Saunders (Roberta), Lou Ann Hyland (Steve), Mike Saunders (Rhonda), Ricky Saunders and nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren (one deceased) and nine great, great grandchildren.

He was preceded by his wife, Mary Lou Saunders; his parents, Ernest and Nellie Saunders; a sister Phyllis Jean Saunders; half-brothers Dale Saunders and Dean Saunders and half-sister Dorothy Pickerell.

Services will be held August 12, 2017, Viewing from 10am – 11am at the Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper, followed by a graveside service at the Jasper Cemetery.
