Patricia June "Pat" Smith, age 85 of Marble Falls, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 in Jasper.
She was one of eleven children born to the late Frank and Elizabeth (Jones) Kearney in Wewoka, Oklahoma on June 9, 1936. She was affectionately known by her friends as Pat and by her family as June.
She was a resident of this area for over 47 years, moving from San Jose, California. Her life's work was dedicated to serving with various agencies as an advocate and support person to children and adults with disabilities. Pat was a devoted volunteer to the Special Olympics and Hospice, where she was a past winner of the Angel of the Year award.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Howard Wesley Smith; a son, Chris Smith; three brothers and three sisters.
June is survived by her three children, Lynn Smith of Compton, Peggy Jo Gross of Conway and Cassie Smith-Foreman of Marble Falls; two brothers, Frank Kearney and Bill Kearney; two sisters, Dorothy Neumeir and Fran Monroe; many grandchildren, including James Alumbaugh, Jennifer George, John Alumbaugh, Jason Alumbaugh, Stephanie Coleman, Michael Kirk, Kyle Goodwin, Hunter Benz and Chase Smith; many great grandchildren, including Charlie Benz and Zac Benz; and several great great grandchildren; and other special relatives and friends, including Debra Brogdon, Jay Foreman, Trish and Steve Flinn; Gregg, Brenda and Gary Roberts; Jeanne and Larry Barsic; John, LaBonna and Lilyanna Davis; Mary Olson, Ellen Corley and the nurses and staff of Newton County Nursing Home as well as a host of nieces, nephews and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Patricia June will be remembered as a very dedicated mother and grandmother, who loved to spoil her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will also be remembered for her love of going to the casino with her beloved Howard, feeding anyone who entered her home, a wonderful sense of humor, dancing, 1970's love songs and being an enthusiastic talker who never met a stranger.
A celebration of life for Patricia and Howard will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in her memory to Boone County Special Services Adult Work Center, C/O Missy McBee, 309 Industrial Park Road, Harrison, AR, 72601.
