Opal Gearldine Sheppard, of Harrison, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Highland Court in Marshall. She was 84 years old.
The daughter of Everett and Thelma (Loveless) Smith was born on February 7, 1939 in Vinton, Iowa.
Opal was a member of the Bellefonte Apostolic Church. She loved her church and her church family and adored her cat, Angel. Opal enjoyed word searches, cooking, sewing, playing bingo, and reading her bible.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Sheppard; her parents; and one brother, Larry Kotouc.
Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly Curtis and husband, Roger; one son, Kennard Brent Sheppard and wife, Jeannett; five grandchildren, Michael Rhoades and wife, Kim, Haily Hughes and husband, Jay, Nathan Sheppard, Aubrey Sheppard, and Quencey Nichols and husband, Nathan; 10 great grandchildren, Landen Rhoades, Tristan Madison, Michaela Rhoades, Skylar Madison, Maycee Nichols, Olivia Carter, Brooklyn Carter, Jackson Hughes, Jayce Hughes, and Aspen Hughes; sister-in-law, Suzanne Kotouc; two nephews, Mark Kotouc and wife, Sheila and Eric Kotouc and wife, Claudia; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, April 3, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison from 5:00 to 7:00 PM
Funeral service is Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at The Apostolic Church of Bellefonte at 2:00 PM. Brother Nathan Hargrave will officiate. Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
