Omel Lee Fields, age 91 of Alpena, Arkansas passed away Thursday April 25, 2024 in Harrison, Arkansas.
The son of Clyde and Audrey (Raynor) Fields was born on March 23, 1933 in Batavia, Arkansas.
Omel graduated from Alpena High School in 1951 and went on to join the United States Air Force and served his country in the Korean War. He worked for the Arkansas State Highway Department retiring with 35+ years of service. Omel was very active in his community in helping establish the Alpena Volunteer Fire Department and still serving as a board member. He was also a member of the Alpena Methodist Church.
Omel loved his family dearly; he and his wife, Patsy, recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Ralph Fields, Stella Maynard and Maxine Flippo.
Omel is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Patsy Fields of the home; a daughter, Chris Foley and husband Joe; a son, Tim Fields and wife Cay; 3 grandchildren, C. J. Foley and wife Karla, Miranda Foley, and Ashley Roethemeyer and husband David; honorary grandchildren, Marissa Stager, Jacinda Gray and Ethan Gray; and 2 great-grandchildren, Landen and Libby Foley. He is also survived by his brother, Leonard Fields of Amarillo, TX, and many other friends and family who will mourn his passing.
Services will be held on Saturday April 27, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Alpena Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at the Alpena Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 Friday evening at the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison.
Pallbearers are Joe Foley, C.J. Foley, Landen Foley, David Roethemeyer, Ethan Gray, Roy Gray, Mike Davis, Richard Wise, and Kenneth Davis.
Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Alpena Volunteer Fire Department.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the Alpena Methodist Church Food Pantry, PO Box 365, Alpena, AR 72611 or the Alpena Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 4, Alpena, AR 72611.
