Norman F. Nommensen, of Harrison, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at home at the age of 83.
The son of Emil Nommensen, Sr., and Lucy (Scott) Nommensen was born August 19, 1933 at Kalispell, Montana. Growing up in Montana, Norman loved the beauty of the state and spending time outdoors.
Norman was a 27 year veteran of the US Army, and after his military service, he continued working as a federal employee with the US Postal Service and the National Park Service until retirement.
He loved to travel, had many collections, and enjoyed working on cars and carpentry. Norman loved his family and the thing he enjoyed most was being with them and having them together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil Nommensen, Sr., and Lucy Nommensen; his siblings, Emil Nommensen, Jr., Irma Kassner, Ernest Nommensen and Helen Price.
Norman is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Nommensen, his sons, Gerald Nommensen, John Dillon, Lawrence Nommensen and Scott Nommensen; his sister, Leona Russell and his brother, Robert Nommensen; and many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
A small memorial gathering for close family and friends will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison. Interment will be at Mapleleaf Cemetery in Harrison, Arkansas.
The family is requesting no flowers, but if you prefer to make a donation, please do so in his memory to your favorite charity or church, and to remember them in prayer.
