Mitchell Daniel Blair, age 87 of Peel, Arkansas passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010 at his residence. He was born on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1923 in Alabama a son of Joe and Gertie Ollie Blair.
In his younger years he served as a licensed Big Game Guide and Bounty Hunter. Mitchell served in the U.S. Navy Intelligence during World War II and he received numerous metals for his service and dedication. He was an honored veteran.
He and his wife Alice moved to Peel in 1967, where they have resided since. He was a member of Peel Full Gospel Church, where he enjoyed Sunday service the most.
Mitchell was a wonderfully blessed husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and family barbeques.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; a sister; and a granddaughter.
Survivors are his wife, Alice Blair of the home; four sons, Harvel Blair and wife, Beverly of Calera, Alabama, James Blair and wife, Pansy of Lincoln, Alabama, Johnny Blair and wife, Mae of Thorsby, Alabama, and Robert Blair and fiancee, Aleatha of Lead Hill; two daughters, Michelle Powell and husband, Tommy of Diamond City and Anita Stayton of Peel; sixteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many other loved ones, family, and dear dear friends that love him very much and will miss him.
There was two visitations held Tuesday, August 31, 2010 and Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.
Service was Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Peel Full Gospel Church with Carroll Johnson and Howard Gene Saylors officiating.
Burial followed in Peel Cemetery with pallbearers being
Robert Blair, Harvel Blair, Chris Cain, Tarran Milligan, William Cain, and John Edwards, Sr. Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Powell, Anthony Powell, Justin Cain, George Long, John Edwards, Jr., Jason Edwards, Stanley Risley, Terry Burr, Justin Coonts, Rusty Russell, L.P. Lindley, Tim McPherson, Brad Wiseman, Ben Campbell, and Tim Burr.
