Obituary

Mildred Darlene Moore, of Harrison, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. She passed away at Hospice of the Hills Hospice House at the age of 97.

The daughter of Van and Mabel (Jones) Whitney was born September 27, 1926 in Des Moines, Iowa. She lived in Harrison most of her life, after a short time in Iowa. She married the love of her life, Oren Moore, on August 9, 1944 in Des Moines and together, they had five children.

Mildred served as a housewife until their children were all in school. She worked at different jobs until she joined her husband, Oren, at Sav-A-Stop which would eventually become McKesson. Mildred stayed with the company until her retirement in 1989, when she and Oren retired together.

Mildred enjoyed traveling, working in the ceramic shop, and watching Fox News. She was an avid gardener, and especially loved her roses. She was selfless, kind, gentle, and hardworking. Mildred was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was dedicated to her family and loved them all beyond measure. Her faith in God was very strong, and she was a fervent prayer warrior for her family and all their needs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Oren Moore in 2004; an infant son, Job Moore; a daughter, Faith Mincks in 2023; granddaughter, Camille; grandson, Alex; and her siblings.

Mildred is survived by her three children, Richard Moore, George Moore (Thelma), and Irene McClain (Jerry); a brother, Larry Whitney (Pat); 12 grandchildren, including her devoted caregivers, Donna, Nicole, Jake, Tyler, and special friend, Cierra Wall; 8 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
